Understanding the "Clairs": Your Intuitive Language

In the world of mediumship, the "Clairs" are the different ways our soul receives information from the spiritual realm. The word "Clair" comes from French, meaning "Clear." Think of these as the internal senses that mirror our physical senses (sight, hearing, touch, and knowing).

Understanding how you receive spiritual information is the first step in mastering your psychic mediumship. We all possess intuitive senses, but one usually leads the way. By identifying your dominant "Clair", you can stop second guessing your experiences and start building a foundation of trust with the spirit world.

How Psychic Mediums Use the Clairs

Psychic mediums act as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. We don't just "guess"; we translate energy. By tuning into our Clairs, we can receive specific evidence, like a loved one’s favorite flower, a song they loved, or a specific feeling they had, to provide healing and validation to those we read for.

The Four Main Pathways of Intuition

Every person has access to these intuitive channels, though most of us have one or two "Dominant Clairs" that feel more natural, much like being left-handed or right-handed.

Clairvoyance (Clear Seeing)

This is the ability to see images, colors, or symbols in the "mind's eye." You might see a flash of a memory or a metaphoric image. We can all use this by paying attention to the mental pictures that "pop" into our heads during meditation or daily life.

Clairsentience (Clear Feeling)

This is the gift of "feeling" energy. You might feel someone else's emotions as if they were your own or experience a physical sensation (like a "gut feeling"). You can use this by learning to trust the "vibes" you get when you enter a room or meet someone new.

Clairaudience (Clear Hearing)

This involves receiving sounds, words, or music internally. It often sounds like your own internal monologue but with a different tone or unexpected wisdom. We use this by quieting the mind enough to hear that "still, small voice" of guidance.

Claircognizance (Clear Knowing)

This is a sudden "download" of information. You just know something is true without any logical proof. We use this by honoring our first impressions and those "aha!" moments that arrive without warning.

The Rarer Senses: Clairalience & Clairgustance

Beyond seeing, hearing, and feeling, Spirit often uses our more physical senses, smell and taste, bring forward undeniable evidence of their presence. These "Clairs" are incredibly evocative and often bypass the logical mind entirely.

Clairalience (Clear Smelling)

Also known as Clairolfaction, this is the ability to perceive a scent that has no physical source in the room.

How it works: A medium might suddenly smell a specific brand of tobacco, a grandmother’s signature rose perfume, or even the scent of fresh rain or baking bread.

How we use it: This is a powerful tool for validation. When a medium says, "I can smell Old Spice cologne," and the sitter confirms their father always wore it, it provides instant, comforting proof of identity.

Clairgustance (Clear Tasting)

This is perhaps the rarest of the intuitive gifts. It is the ability to "taste" a substance without eating anything.

How it works: During a reading, a medium might experience the metallic taste of a copper penny, the sweetness of a specific candy, or even the bitterness of a medicine.

How we use it: Spirits use this to communicate hobbies, professions, or even health conditions they had in life. For example, tasting flour or yeast might indicate a loved one who was a baker.
